1909-1911 T206 White Border High-Grade SGC NM/MT 88 Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,700

Three extremely high grade T206 White Border tobacco cards, each graded NM/MT 88 by SGC (all submitted by REA): Bud Sharpe (El Principe De Gales back), Jeff Sweeney, Heinie Wagner (bat on right shoulder). This is a beautiful trio of ultra high-grade cards from the most popular tobacco-card issue of the 1910 era. These are three of four NM/MT examples heralding from an exceptional single-owner collection of over 400 T206s submitted to SGC. (The fourth NM-MT example from the collection, Hall of Famer Rube Marquard, is presented in this auction as a separate lot.) These three stunning examples each display four pack-fresh corners, perfect registration, and flawless colors. Each is a crisp, fresh gem, worthy of inclusion in any ultra high-grade T206 collection or set. Sharpe and Sweeney are centered slightly to the left; Wagner is nearly perfectly centered. The SMR value for T206s graded NM-MT 8 by PSA is $865 each. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as the T206 White Borders. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $2,595. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700
