1909-1911 T206 Cy Young - Portrait - SGC NM 84

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,406

Graded NM 84 by SGC. Portrait pose. Of the 790 examples (total includes all three T206 Cy Young poses) graded by SGC to date, only six examples have ever been graded higher (two NM+ 86, three NM/MT 88, and one MINT 96). Striking high-grade SGC example of key Hall of Famer Cy Young from the classic T206 White Border series. The portrait pose has long been considered the most desirable of the three poses of Young in the T206 set. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with a vibrant green background, centered slightly to the right (65/35 L/R), extremely sharp corners, and a perfectly focused image of Young. The unusual as-printed green background with yellow accents gives this card a particularly striking and distinctive appearance. The printing of the Piedmont advertising on the back is bright and bold, with some excess blue ink related to the printing process. This is a very attractive high-grade SGC example of this classic Cy Young card that would make a significant addition to almost any T206, Hall of Famer, or Cy Young card collection. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,406
