1909-1911 T206 White Border SGC EX/NM 80 Collection (24)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $8,225

Collection of twenty-four different T206 White Border tobacco cards, each encapsulated and graded EX/NM 80 by SGC (except two PSA EX-MT 6). The collection is highlighted by the "Joe Doyle, N.Y." hands-above-head pose. Though this is not the exceedingly rare "Doyle, NY Nat'l" variation, of which only a few are known, in recent times the Doyle hands-above-head pose has clearly been selling for a very substantial premium. This is part of a larger collection of T206 cards, which we have broken down into several smaller lots organized by condition. All have Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertisements on back unless otherwise noted. The collection consists of the following: Alperman, Ball - NY (El Principe De Gales back), Bell - hands above head, Bergen - catching, Cassidy, Conroy - bat, Delehanty, Dooin, Doyle - NY (hands above head), Hemphill, D. Jones, Knight - port., Magee - bat, McLean, Merritt, Mitchell - Toronto (PSA EX-MT 6), H. Moran, Perring, Seymour - throwing, Stephens, Sullivan (Old Mill back), Tannehill - Tannehill on front (Sovereign back), Wagner - bat left (PSA EX-MT 6), and Wilhelm - bat (Old Mill back). This is an exceptionally strong group that could serve as a foundation for a high-quality T206 collection, or make a significant addition to the building of an extremely high-quality set. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $4,800. Total: 24 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $8,225
