1909-1916 PC758 Max Stein Postcard Collection: Cobb, Tinker, Wood, and Bodie

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,233

Collection of four different cards from the rare and highly regarded PC758 Max Stein postcard set issued from 1909 to 1916. 1) Ty Cobb. This is one of the key cards in the set and one of the great unusual Cobb cards of the era. (Technically Vg, with a tiny corner crease in the lower left, a little corner wear, and some insignificant light spotting/soiling on reverse. Great looking card!). 2) Joe Tinker (Vg-Ex). 3) Joe Wood (Vg/Vg-Ex, with a little more wear to the left corners than the right corners). 4) Ping Bodie. Blank back. (Vg-Ex). The cards have never been mailed and have no writing on their traditional postcard reverses (as noted, the Bodie card has a blank back). Baseball photographer Max Stein's classic photo-finish postcards are among the most revered of all early twentieth-century postcards. Impressive technically mid-grade group of four cards, including Cobb, from one of the most unusual and substantial of all 1910-era baseball-postcard issues. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++. SOLD FOR $2,233
