1950s F219-7 "Royal Trading Cards - Howdy Doody Star" Full Boxes Complete Set (16)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,293

Extraordinary complete set of Howdy Doody Royal Pudding trading cards presented in their original unopened box form. In 1950, if you were walking down the supermarket aisle, you would have seen unopened boxes of Royal Desserts, exactly as offered in this lot: the front displaying the company logos and the reverse featuring a package-design card (intended to be cut from the box) with an illustration of a Howdy Doody character. One dedicated collector had the foresight to realize what a remarkable collectible these would someday be and he kept the boxes intact and unopened. These boxes have been carefully guarded from the elements and the dessert tray for over sixty years! Offered is a complete set of sixteen unopened boxes of Royal Desserts puddings, pie fillings and gelatin desserts, each featuring a different character from the Howdy Doody television show on the reverse, preserved in a most improbable and original state. We can't imagine that too many boxes have survived unopened like this, let alone an entire complete set of sixteen boxes! The boxes (3-1/2 x 2-7/8 x 1-1/8 inches) show normal shelf wear and a few minor creases. In Excellent condition overall. Total: 16 boxes. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,293
