Whitey Ford Signed Limited-Edition LeRoy Neiman Serigraph

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,293

Titled Whitey Ford , issued in June 2003, serigraph numbered "17/175," flawlessly signed in pencil in the lower margin by Ford and Neiman (both grading "10"). Edition limited to 216 total impressions (175 numbered impressions, 35 artist's proofs, and 6 printer's proofs). This stunning piece pays homage to the legendary "chairman of the board," Whitey Ford, the greatest pitcher in Yankees history. To date, Neiman has produced only twenty-one baseball serigraphs, and Ford is one of only five pitchers to have been so honored. This serigraph is further distinguished by its special provenance. The offered piece was previously personally owned by Whitey Ford and was purchased by our consignor at the widely publicized sale of Ford's personal collection in 2008. Together with the original auction LOA signed by Ford. The serigraph measures 27 x 38 inches (image area) and is in Near Mint condition. Matted (by means of tape on the reverse) to total dimensions of 39 x 49 inches. Please Note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping costs (depending on where it is sent and its method of shipping) may be substantial. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,293
