1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel Ed Walsh

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,998

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. One of only three examples graded at this level by PSA, with none graded higher! Extraordinary high-grade example of Hall of Famer Ed Walsh from the highly desirable E90-1 American Caramel series. E90-1 American Caramels are particularly challenging to collect due to the many rarities included in the set. Walsh is one of the few Hall of Famers that is also an extremely rare card in the set. We can't help but mention that Walsh is also a rare card in the T205 Gold Border set. This guy couldn't get a break from the card manufacturers. This is the highest-grade E90-1 Walsh we have ever offered. Bright and crisp, with a bold yellow background, vibrant colors, even wear to the corners, and only a light diagonal crease in the lower right portion of the card (barely visible), and two tiny surface wrinkles in the middle of the left border (also barely visible). The reverse has bold black print and a small stain of little or no consequence near the upper left edge. This is a gorgeous card and an exceptional example of a key Hall of Famer rarity from the most popular caramel-card set of the era. We do not believe the extreme rarity of some cards in the E90-1 set, including Walsh, are accurately reflected by the values currently listed in SMR. The SMR value for the assigned grade is $875. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,998
