1922 New York Giants/Yankees World Series Press Pin
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $8,813
Press pin issued for the 1922 World Series between the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Because both clubs called the Polo Grounds home in 1922, only one press pin was issued for the Series. This is a particularly rare press pin, and in fact the last 1922 New York Giants/Yankees press pin we can recall offering was in 1997. The oval pin features a blue enamel center displaying a crossed-bat-and-ball design and the lettering "Giants/Yankees/1922." The lettering along the white border reads "World Series Polo Grounds New York Press." The Giants swept the Yankees in the "fall classic" to capture their second consecutive World Championship and their final title under manager John McGraw. Manufactured by Whitehead & Hoag; brooch. Approximately 1 x .5 inches. Nr-Mt. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $8,813
