1909 T204 Ramly Tobacco SGC-Graded Collection (7)

Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $4,700

Seven extremely attractive T204 Ramly tobacco cards from an original-owner collection, all graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted for grading by REA). Four cards are graded EX/NM 80, one card is graded EX+ 70, and two are graded EX 60. These cards were among the many highlights of a small but remarkable original-owner collection of forty-nine T204 Ramlys, four T208 Firesides, fifty T206s, and sixty T205s, all new to the organized collecting world and presented in a total of sixteen lots in this auction. Among the most elegantly designed card issues ever produced, T204 Ramlys are noted for the distinctive fancy gold-embossed borders that surround the oval photographic portraits. They are universally regarded as one of the most beautiful card issues ever created. The collection is comprised of the following: Mike "Turkey" Donlin (EX/NM 80), George Ferguson (EX/NM 80), Jerry Freeman (EX/NM 80), Harry Lord (EX/NM 80), Jimmy McAleer (EX 60), P.J. Moran (EX 60), and Dode Paskert (EX+ 70). This is an exceptional high-grade group of these classic cards. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $5,600. Total: 7 cards. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700
