Circa 1948 Babe Ruth Figural Desk Clock

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,998

This classic Babe Ruth figural electric desk clock produced by the Abbotwares company features a bust of Ruth between two baseballs, on which are recorded his single-season and lifetime home-run records, respectively. This clock was the top prize offered by a baseball punch-board game, circa 1948, and was probably available for sale as well. The clock is in working order. The right baseball, displaying Ruth's lifetime home-run total, appears to be missing one of its two anchoring screws needed to firmly secure it to the base and as a result the ball can spin, but it remains permanently attached to the base and cannot be removed (this missing screw does not in the least affect display value and could easily be replaced if desired). General light wear. An extremely strong example in Excellent to Mint condition overall. Dimensions: 12.5 (L) x 5 (D) x 10 (H) inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,998
