1936 World Series Program with 45 Yankees and Giants Signatures including Gehrig, Lazerri, and Ott!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,525

This official 1936 World Series program, issued for the "subway series" between the New York Yankees and New York Giants, features the signatures of forty-five participants, including eight future Hall of Famers. Each player has signed the program on the interior in the area next to his respective photo and biography. Incredibly, it has been signed by every single team member pictured in the program with the exception of seven players. (Please note: the signatures of Earl Combs, Joe McCarthy, Pat Malone, Lefty Gomez, and Joe DiMaggio are clubhouse versions and have not been considered in the count of total signatures or Hall of Fame players featured.) While we have seen a number of other autographed 1936 World Series programs, this is one of the most complete examples we have ever seen, and probably ever will. All of the signatures have been beautifully executed in blue fountain pen and grade either "9" or "10" (with the exception of just a few slightly lesser as duly noted). The twenty-five Yankees signatures are those of Gehrig ("10"), Lazzeri , Ruffing ("8"), Dickey , Pearson, Hadley, Broaca, Murphy, Brown, Wicker, Crosetti, Rolfe, Saltzgaver, Seeds, Selkirk, Powell ("6"), Johnson ("7"), Jorgens ("7"), Glenn, and Schulte. The twenty-five Giants signatures are those of Ott ("10"), Terry (player/Mgr.), Jackson , Hubbell , Snyder (coach), Schumacher ("7," slight brushing), Fitzsimmons, Smith, Gabler, Luque (coach), Coffman, Castleman, Gumbert, Mancuso, Danning ("6," minor bleeding), Whitehead, Bartell, Leslie, Mayo, Koenig, Moore (black fountain pen), Leiber, Ripple, Davis, and Spencer. The twenty-four page program (9 x 11 inches) has not been scored and all of the pages are clean and bright. Both the name "Selkirk" (in pencil) and the blue-ink notation "Geo in back of book" appear on the front cover in the upper right corner; otherwise the program is in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525
