1912-1913 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 2) SGC-Graded Collection Including Newly Discovered Player (4)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,410

Collection of four T215 (Type 2) Red Cross Tobacco cards, highlighted by Hall of Famers Hughie Jennings and Miller Huggins and one newly discovered example which has never been seen and is not listed in the 2011 Standard Catalog checklist, each graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). This group is from one of vintage-card collecting's most extraordinary recent discoveries: The Louisiana Find of 2010. The T215 Red Cross set is an extremely rare tobacco-card set believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, and which has much in common with the T206 “White Border” set. The T215 Type 2 series issued from 1912 to 1913 are identical to the Type 1 series except for the player's name and team printed on the bottom in blue rather than brown. The SGC grades are as follows: One GOOD 30: Willetts (newly discovered). Three POOR 10: Cree, Huggins (HOF, hands at mouth), and Jennings (HOF, one hand showing). This is a very attractive low-grade collection of four rare T215 (Type 2) cards, including two Hall of Famers and one newly discovered, from The Louisiana Find. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $1,410
