1929 New York Yankees Team-Signed Ball with Gehrig
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,058
Official American League (Barnard) ball signed in black fountain pen by the following eighteen members of the 1929 New York Yankees: Ruth (clubhouse signature), Gehrig ("4"), Lazzeri, Hoyt, Durocher, Dickey, Combs, Pennock, Meusel, Bengough, Koenig, O'Leary (coach), Grabowski, Robertson, Fletcher (coach), Wells, Pipgras, and Lary. Signatures range from "2" to "5," averaging "3/4." The ball has been coated with a heavy layer of protective shellac, which has resulted in uneven surface toning. All of the manufacturer's stampings, with the exception of Barnard's facsimile signature (just faint vestiges are visible), are legible. In Good to Very Good condition overall. Despite the surface toning, all of the signatures are clearly discernible and this remains a fine representative 1920s Yankees team ball with Ruth, Gehrig, and six other Hall of Famers. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,058
