1888 N172 Old Judge John Ward - SGC NM+ 86 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,875

Graded NM+ 86 by SGC. Highest-graded example! In fact, this is the single highest-graded N172 example of any pose of John Ward (there are ten poses) ever graded by SGC, and the highest graded out of the total of sixty-one John Ward N172 examples graded in the history of SGC. Absolutely stunning ultra high-grade N172 Old Judge example of Hall of Famer John Ward in a classic batting pose ("New Yorks"). As suggested by the extraordinary grade, this card is a gem! Superb clarity, a flawless surface, perfectly fresh, crisp, and flawlessly clean, both front and back, and with virtually perfect centering as well. Under magnification the corners reveal the most minute hint of wear at the tips, which we assume is what keeps this exceptional card from grading NM/MT 88. This is a particularly extraordinary Old Judge of Hall of Famer John Ward in spectacular Near Mint+ condition. This card would be a significant highlight in any world-class nineteenth-century, Old Judge, or high-grade vintage Hall of Fame card collection. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+.
