1961 Bazooka Panel #1-3 Mickey Mantle - PSA MINT 9 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,115

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Stunning high-grade example of Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, the key card from the 1961 Bazooka set, with Art Mahaffey and Ron Santo on either side. PSA rarely assigns a numerical grade to these cards but this gem is an exception due to its ideal cut. It is a rarely seen, flawlessly cut, perfect MINT 1961 Bazooka panel, the key #1-3 panel with Mickey Mantle. 1961 was the third year of production of Bazooka baseball cards, and the second year Bazooka issued cards in the three-card panel format. Mantle waged an epic home-run battle with teammate Roger Maris in 1961. Unfortunately, a late-season injury curtailed any chance he may have had at breaking Ruth’s single-season home run record and he finished the year with a career high fifty-four home runs. The Mantle card and entire panel, as expected, is perfectly bright and clean, both front and back, with four sharp corners, and flawless colors. This is a ultra high-grade essentially perfect example of Mickey Mantle's 1961 Bazooka panel, the highest and only MINT 9 example ever graded by PSA, and all the more of note as it dates from the year of Mantle's historic 1961 season. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500.
