1955 Topps #164 Roberto Clemente Rookie - PSA NM 7

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,880

Graded NM 7 by PSA. Extremely attractive high-grade example of Roberto Clemente's rookie card. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Clemente's rookie card is the key to the 1955 Topps set, and one of the most popular of all postwar baseball cards. This particularly strong and striking example is bright and clean, both front and back, with four sharp corners showing just the slightest hint of wear, particularly strong colors, and is centered slightly towards the bottom left, much better than most examples of this card (which is notorious for serious centering problems). This is an attractive high-grade Near Mint example of one of collecting's most famous cards, and would be a worthy cornerstone to either a high-grade 1950s Clemente card collection or any world-class collection of classic baseball cards. SMR value is $2,200. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,880
