1954 Red Heart Dog Food Complete Set (33)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,410

Complete 33-card set of Red Heart Dog Food baseball cards. Red Hearts have always been a favorite with collectors. Many consider Red Hearts to be one of the most attractive sets ever issued. The distinctive artwork and the unusual product with which they were issued both contribute to making Red Hearts one of the 1950s most noteworthy sets. No essay on baseball cards and how they were issued is complete without at least a mention of Red Heart Dog Food. Though comprised of only 33 cards, the set features many of the greatest stars of the early 1950s, including Mantle, Musial, Snider, Ashburn, Spahn, and Fox. Keys: Ashburn (75/25 L/R, otherwise Ex), Erskine (Ex), Fox (80/20 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), Kell (Vg-Ex), Kiner (Ex-Mt), Kluszewski (Vg), Lemon (Vg-Ex), Mantle (85/15 L/R, otherwise Vg-Ex), Martin (Vg), McDougald SP (30/70 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), Minoso (Ex), Musial (Vg), Schoendienst (Nr/Mt), Slaughter (Nr/Mt), Snider (Ex), and Spahn (70/30 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt).
