1953 Topps #86 Billy Martin PSA MINT 9

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Pack-fresh gem with flawless colors and gloss, perfect registration, and four razor-sharp corners. Centered just a hint to the bottom. REA chose this gem to submit for grading by PSA as it jumped out of a very clean 1953 Topps set as being in extraordinarily high grade, approaching perfection. A quick look at the PSA population report shows that 498 examples of this card have been graded to date. Of these, however, only six have graded PSA MINT 9, with no PSA 10 examples ever graded. 1953 Topps cards typically suffer from a variety of condition problems, including print defects and a tendency to have soft corners, which make Mint examples particularly difficult to find. This is a world-class card, far exceeding the expectations for 1953 Topps. It would be hard to imagine a finer example. SMR value is $2,200. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,231
