1887 N172 Old Judge John Clarkson - Chicago

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,293

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. 1887 N172 Old Judge of Hall of Famer John Clarkson with the Chicago Nationals in a throwing pose. Clarkson was one of the greatest pitchers of the nineteenth century. In 1887, the year this card was issued, he led the league with 38 wins. This is a very sharp-looking card, perfectly clean front and back, with light wear on the corners (and would otherwise be graded Ex), no creases, and featuring Clarkson posed in front of an elaborate studio backdrop. A very attractive example of one of the premier Hall of Famers of the Old Judge set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,293
