1887 N172 Old Judge Jake Beckley

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,293

Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. This is a stunning card that has been downgraded by SGC solely due to pencil writing (a checklist number) and tape remnants on the blank reverse. It is otherwise in strong Vg-Ex condition! 1887 N172 Old Judge of Hall of Famer Jake Beckley (batting, "TLO" just visible on jersey). This is an extremely attractive card, with an extraordinarily crisp photo with perfect photo clarity and contrast, no creases, and just a little even wear on the corners. This is a great-looking card! We have found Beckley to be a particularly difficult-to-find Hall of Famer in the Old Judge set. Beckley is baseball’s all-time leader in games played at first base. During his twenty Major League seasons, he batted .300 or better thirteen times, including six straight years, 1899-1904. This is a very clean, crisp, magnificent N172 example of Beckley, of all the greater significance as it dates from Beckley's rookie season. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,293
