1922 V61 Neilson's Chocolate Type II PSA-Graded Collection Including Babe Ruth (58)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,938

This 1922 V61 Neilson's Chocolate Type II collection of 58 different players (out of 120 in the set) is highlighted by seven Hall of Famers, including Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson. The V61 Neilson's Chocolate series is one of the most substantial and overlooked sets from the 1920s. This classic 1920-era issue includes many of the great stars and Hall of Famers of the decade. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA (except four SGC). PSA condition report: One EX-MT 6: Falk. Ten EX 5: Caveney, B. Grimes (HOF), Hamilton, Harris, Hauser, S. Johnson, Perkins, Rapp, Snyder, and Tobin. Nineteen VG-EX 4: Bigbee, Blue, P. Collins, Danforth, Daubert, Davis, DeBerry, Ford, Groh, Hollocher, King, O'Neill, Pillette, Powell, Rommel, Sheely, Veach, Walker, and Wambsganss. Thirteen VG 3: Bancroft (HOF), Bush, Callaghan, Cunningham, Dauss, Gerber, Gharrity, Hoyt (HOF), Hubbell, Jones, Menosky, Mostil (SGC VG 40), and Wrightstone. Seven GOOD 2: Burns, Doak, Donohue (SGC GOOD 30), Lavan, Luque (PSA GOOD+ 2.5), Pinelli, and Smith. Three FR 1.5: Alexander (HOF), Fletcher, and O. Grimes. Five PR 1: Boeckel, Haines (HOF, SGC POOR 10), W. Johnson (HOF), Pipp, and Ruth (HOF). The condition of this group spans many grades, as can be seen, but includes many highlights. This is an impressive start toward the assembly of a complete set of this very scarce and overlooked early 1920s issue. Large collections of V61s are rarely seen or offered. Includes seven Hall of Famers. Total 58 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,938
