1914 E145 Cracker Jack #68 Honus Wagner

Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $7,050

Graded EX 60 by SGC. The 1914 Cracker Jack is understandably one of Honus Wagner's most striking and popular cards. This is an incredibly high-grade example for this issue. Only one 1914 Cracker Jack of Honus Wagner (the incredible MINT example from the miracle 1914 Cracker Jack set) has ever been graded higher by SGC. The "Flying Dutchman" is one of the big three key cards in the set, along with Cobb and Jackson. This card is well centered, with outstanding color, perfect registration, an extremely bold red background, and strong corners that display light, even wear. Bright and clean, both front and back, with just the slightest hint of caramel staining (far less than usually found on #144 series cards). The 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are far rarer to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack. The card has a strong Excellent appearance, and would be a highlight addition to any world-class collection of Cracker Jack, Honus Wagner, or vintage Hall of Fame cards. This is a magnificent high-grade example of one of prewar-card collecting's most popular and classic cards. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000.
