1911 T205 Gold Border PSA- & SGC-Graded Partial Set (77 Different)

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $7,050

Extremely impressive partial set of seventy-seven T205 Gold Borders all graded EX or EX+ and encapsulated by PSA (58 cards), SGC (18 cards), and BVG (1 card). All are different, and included is "Black Sox" member Ed Cicotte and star player Hal Chase. This collection has been carefully assembled, with an eye for visual appeal and value, by a very dedicated collector. This collection represents a foundation for an exceptional high-grade T205 set. The PSA grades are as follows: Two EX+ 5.5: Carrigan and Devore. Fifty-six EX 5: Abbaticchio, Ball, Bates, Beck, Becker, Birmingham, Blackburne, Bransfield, Bridwell, Chase (border extends), Criger, Daubert, Devlin, Egan (MC), Elberfeld, Engle, Evans, Ewing, Ferguson, Flynn, Ford (black cap), Foxen, Groom, Hartsel, Hauser, Hoffman, Killian, Kling, Kroh, Leever, Lord, Maddox, Magee, McIntire (Cubs), Meyers, Miller, Mullin, Murphy, Oldring, Overall, Parent, Payne, Pelty, Pfeister, Phelps, Schlei, Scott, Sharpe, Sheckard, Simmons, Stanage, Stone, Street, Tannehill, Willett, and Wiltse (both ears). The SGC grades are as follows: Six EX+ 70: Dygert, Gaspar, Moriarity, Reulbach, Richie, and Schmidt. Twelve EX 60: Barger (full “B”), Barry, Cicotte ("Black Sox"), Corridon, LaPorte, McConnell, McLean, Milan, Moran (no stray line), Olmstead, Rucker, and Titus. One BVG EX 5: Lennox. The T205 set is one of card collecting's most condition-sensitive issues. Like most PSA- and SGC-graded T205s, the cards in this collection display far better than suggested by their technically accurate grades. This is a magnificent collection of one of card collecting's most classic issues. This collection represents a full 37% of the entire set, and is an ideal foundation for the building of a beautiful entirely graded T205 set, of which very few have ever been assembled. The total SMR value for the collection is $11,710. Total 77 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++.
