1911 T205 Gold Border Christy Mathewson

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,058

Graded EX 60 by SGC. Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson is one of the key cards in the T205 set. This is a very pleasing example of one of card collecting's classics, from what is perhaps the hobby's single most condition-sensitive issue. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with bold colors. The corners are square. No creases, a very clean surface, and a bold portrait. The top and right borders display light surface wear. Piedmont advertising reverse. This is a very attractive mid- to high-grade example of one of Mathewson's most popular cards and one of the key cards from the classic T205 set. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200.
