1909-1911 T206 Sherry Magie - Error

Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $26,438

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Superb high-grade example of T206 Sherry Magie (Magee), one of card collecting's most legendary rarities. One of only three examples graded at this level by SGC; only two examples have ever been graded higher. This is a particularly strong Magie error card, one of the best we have seen. Wagner, Plank, Magie, and Doyle/NY Nat'l (hands above head) are the four baseball-card rarities that have long been referred to as "The Big Four" from the T206 White Borders series. These four baseball cards have traditionally represented the height of rarity, desirability, and value in the baseball-card world. This is a magnificent example of T206 Magie. Crisp and clean, with flawless bright colors, no creases, well-centered, and with just a hint of even wear to the corners (a little more wear on the upper left). It is particularly rare to find such a problem-free example of this card. The reverse of the card features a crisply printed advertisement for Piedmont Cigarettes (150 Subjects, Factory No. 25). Of the five Magie error cards in the Conlon Collection, this was the finest. This is an exceptional high-grade example of this legendary rarity. From the Charlie Conlon Collection. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000+. SOLD FOR $26,438
