1940 R83 Gum, Inc., Lone Ranger SGC MINT 96 Collection (2)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,175

Two ultra high-grade examples from the classic 1940 R83 Lone Ranger series issued by Gum, Inc., each graded MINT 96 by SGC. Gum, Inc.'s 1940 Lone Ranger series is one of the era's most popular nonsport bubble-gum card issues. These have to be seen to be believed. They are gems! These extraordinary cards look exactly as they did when they were pulled from packs in 1940. Each card has brilliant colors with four razor-sharp corners and near-perfect centering. This pair of spectacular MINT examples consists of the following: #27 "Midnight Branding Party" and #30 "Tonto in War Paint." As of this writing, a total of only four Lone Ranger cards have ever been graded MINT 96, and no cards have been graded GEM 98. Both of the cards in this lot are the highest-graded examples to date. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than guide prices, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets. This is an extremely high-grade pair of 1940 Lone Ranger cards, each the highest-graded and finest example known to exist. Total 2 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,175
