1909-1914 Hall of Fame Prewar Rookie Card Collection (9)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,231

Collection of ten Hall of Famers, all dating from the 1910 era, from eight different highly regarded issues. The eight cards have each been graded and encapsulated by PSA or SGC. Carefully assembled group of classic vintage cards from the collection of an extremely dedicated longtime advanced Hall of Fame rookie-card collector. 1) 1909-1912 PX7 Sweet Caporal Domino Disc: Zach Wheat (Ex). 2) 1909 E254 Colgan's Chips: Harry Hooper (Boston Am. L., SGC VG 40, downgraded due to light staining on his face and a crease). 3) 1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel (2 cards): Frank Baker (PSA VG-EX 4, centered to the top left); Eddie Collins (SGC VG 40, evenly rounded corners and a slight diamond cut). 4) 1910 E91C American Caramel: Harry Hooper (SGC GOOD 30, particularly nice looking card for the grade). 5) 1909-1911 T206 White Border: Zach Wheat (PSA EX-MT 6, very sharp-looking card with bright colors, and perfectly centered. Sovereign back). In addition to being Zach Wheat's undisputed rookie card, it is also of special note as the only pose of Wheat in the T206 set. (Most Hall of Famers in the T206 set are represented by more than one card.) 6) 1912 T207 Brown Background: Max Carey (PSA EX-MT 6 - only two examples graded higher by PSA; centered to the right, very crisp and clean, with a little light wear to the corners). 7) 1914 E145 Cracker Jack (2 cards): #61 Ray Schalk (PSA VG-EX 4, well centered, light caramel staining as is usually the case with 1914 Cracker Jack cards which were issued one card per box); #136 Rabbit Maranville (PSA VG 3, centered towards the top left and normal caramel staining). The SMR value of just three cards (E90-1 Baker PSA VG-EX 4, T207 Carey PSA EX-MT 6, and T206 Wheat PSA EX-MT 6) of the ten items in this lot is $2,000. Total 9 items. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
