Future Hall of Fame Pro-Model Bat Collection - Sheffield, Piazza, and Guerrero (3 bats)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $823

Trio of pro-model bats from three of the greatest players of the modern era: Gary Sheffield, Mike Piazza, and Vladimir Guerrero. 1) 2006 Gary Sheffield Signed Louisville Slugger Signature Model "C243" Bat. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. Although this bat dates from the 2004-2006 manufacturing period, it can be more narrowly defined to the 2006 season based upon Sheffield's silver-pen inscription (grading "10") on the sweet spot which reads, "Gary Sheffield #11 2006." The two-tone bat, crafted in "Rock Hard Maple," displays heavy use along its entire length, including deeply embedded ball and stitch marks, rack marks, cleat marks, and pine tar. The bat also features a four-inch wrap of white tape mixed with mota stick on the handle that encompasses most of the knob as well (a custom trait of Sheffield bats). A "Sheff Authenticated" hologram sticker is affixed on the barrel, just to the right of the barrel stamping. 2006 marked Gary Sheffield's third and final season with the New York Yankees. Sheffield missed most of the 2006 season with a wrist injury, but still managed to bat .298 with 6 home runs and 25 RBI in thirty-nine games with the club. In 2009 Sheffield became the twenty-fourth player in history to hit 500 home runs and he currently ranks twenty-fourth on the all-time RBI list (1,671). Length: 34.5 ounces. Weight: 32 ounces. Graded A10 by MEARS (base grade of 5, plus 3 points for use and 2 points for the provenance of having been distributed by Sheffield's personal licensing company). This is one of eighteen Gary Sheffield bats listed in the MEARS database, but just one of four graded a perfect A10. 2) 2001 Mike Piazza Rawlings Block-Letter (last name only) model "609B" Bat. Graded A8 by MEARS. The blue-ring bat features Piazza's uniform number ("31") written in blue marker on both the knob and end of the barrel. Moderate use is displayed in the form of ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, cleat marks, and a light amount of pine tar on the handle. Piazza, who is the career home-run leader for Major League catchers, batted .300 with 36 home runs and 94 RBI with the Mets in 2006. Length: 34.5 ounces. Weight: 32.4 ounces. Graded A8 by MEARS (base grade of 5, plus 2 points for use and 1 point for the uniform number on the knob and barrel end). This is one of twelve Mike Piazza bats listed in the MEARS database and one of only three graded A8, with just one graded higher (A9.5). 3) 2007 Vladimir Guerrero Signed Route 66 "RT-147M" Bat. Graded a perfect 10 by both MEARS and PSA/DNA. Guerrero's name and number ("Vladi #27") are printed in white lettering on the barrel. Guerrero's uniform number ("27") is written on the knob in black marker. Guerrero has inscribed the bat "Vladimir Guerrero 27 HR 3" in black marker (grading "9") on the side of the barrel. The bat displays heavy use along its entire length, including ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, rack marks, an impression made by a weighted batting donut, pine tar, cleat marks, and a four-inch crack in the handle. Accompanied by a color photo of Guerrero using this style bat in a game. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 33.8 ounces. Graded A10 by MEARS (base grade of 5, plus 3 points for use, 1 point for the uniform number on the knob and 1 point for the photo documentation). Also graded GU10 by PSA/DNA. This is one of only twelve Vladimir Guerrero bats listed in the MEARS database and one of just two graded A10. LOAs from Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Total: 3 bats. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $823
