Signed Perez-Steele Postcard Collection - Celebration, Master Works, and Great Moments (93)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,644

This collection is comprised of a complete signed set of the 1989 Perez-Steele Celebration Postcards, a near-complete signed set of 1990-1992 Perez-Steele Master Works Postcards, and seven signed 1985-1995 Perez-Steele Great Moments Postcards. All of the cards are in Near Mint condition and the signatures grade "10." 1) 1989 Perez-Steele Celebration Postcards. Complete set of all forty-four cards, minus the checklist. Forty-one of the cards have been signed on the front in blue Sharpie by the respective Hall of Fame player: Aaron, Aparicio, Banks, Bell, Bench, Berra, Boudreau, Campanella, Chandler, Conlan, Dandridge, Dickey, Doerr, Ferrell, Gehringer, Herman, Hunter, Irvin, Kaline, Kell, Killebrew, Kiner, Lemon, Leonard, Lopez, Mantle, Marichal, Mathews, McCovey, Mize, Musial, Reese, Robinson, Sewell, Slaughter, Snider, Spahn, Stargell, B. Williams, T. Williams, and Yastrzemski. (The cards of Lefty Gomez, Judy Johnson, and Bill Terry in the set could not have been signed; each player passed away prior to the issue of the set.) 2) 1990-1992 Perez-Steele Master Works Postcards. Near-complete set of forty-five cards, minus the five Mantle cards (plus two checklists), each signed on the front in blue Sharpie by the respective Hall of Fame player. Each player included in this set was featured on five different postcards, thus a total of nine players are represented in the this grouping (five signed cards for each player): Gehringer, Mays, Snider, Spahn, Berra, Mize, Stargell, T. Williams, and Yastrzemski. 3) 1985-1995 Perez-Steele Great Moments Postcards. Seven cards from the 108-card set, each signed on the front in blue Sharpie by the respective Hall of Fame player: Wynn, Carew, Kiner, Wilhelm, Leonard, Ferrell, and F. Robinson. As a point of reference, the 2009 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards lists the combined value of the signed Celebration and Great Moments postcards at $2,910. The guide does not yet list a value for the signed Master Works cards, but if we assume an equivalent value (which may or may not be accurate, but at least serves as a point of reference) for each player in the Master Works set, as compared to the same player in either the Celebration or Great Moments set (taking the lesser value if different), the approximate "book" value for the Master Works set would be $2,925. Total: 93 signed postcards. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $2,644
