"Kid" Nichols Signed Black-and-White Hall of Fame Postcard

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,763

Black-and-white (Albertype) Hall of Fame postcard of Charles "Kid" Nichols, signed in blue ink (grading “10”) along the top border. This is one of the great rarities among Hall of Fame signed postcards. Black-and-white Hall of Fame postcards were only issued between the years 1944 and 1963. Nichols was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1949, but he passed away in 1953, leaving collectors with just a very short four-year "window of opportunity" to obtain his signature on a Hall of Fame postcard. The postcard (3.5 x5.5 inches) is toned and displays a tack hole in both the upper right corner and the center of the bottom border. There is also a small corner chip in the upper left, otherwise in Very Good condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+.
