1941-1953 Cleveland Indians Team-Signed Ball Collection Including 1948 World Championship Ball with Paige (6)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,175

Collection of six Cleveland Indians team-signed balls spanning the years 1941 through 1953, highlighted by an example dating from the club's historic 1948 World Championship season. Each of these balls originates from the personal collection of Bob Bauman, who was a longtime Major League trainer with both the St. Louis Browns (1937-1953) and St. Louis Cardinals (1954-1988), and has been consigned to this auction directly by his son. (A total of eighty-four team-signed baseballs from the Bauman Collection, offered in twelve separate lots, are featured in this current auction.) In our listing for each ball we have duly noted all of the Hall of Fame signatures as well as those of the prominent players. As is common for the time, a number of balls feature "clubhouse" signatures, all of which are also duly noted. 1941: OAL (Harridge) ball signed in blue ink (averaging “5”) by sixteen team members, including Peckinpaugh (Mgr., sweet spot), Campbell (sweet spot) Bell, Mack, Keltner, Whitehill (coach), Smith, Grimes, and Rosenthal.
