1928-1931 Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $5,288

Official American League (Barnard) ball signed in black fountain pen by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Ruth's signature is situated in its customary place of honor on the sweet spot (grading "6"), while Gehrig's signature is located on the east panel ( also grading "6"). The fact that Barnard is listed as league president on the ball definitively dates it to the four-year period 1928-1931. The ball displays moderate surface wear and all of the manufacturer's labels are clear and legible. In Excellent condition overall. This is an outstanding mid-grade example of what is universally recognized as the most desirable dual-signed sphere in the hobby. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $5,288
