1888 N173 Goodwin Dogs Head Cabinet Joe Quinn

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,998

Exceptionally rare 1888 N173 Dogs Head cabinet card featuring Boston’s second baseman Joe Quinn. Quinn was the first Australian-born Major Leaguer; he played seventeen Major League seasons and during his career, he changed teams eleven times. All N173 Old Judges are rare, but examples with Dogs Head advertising are particularly rare, and extremely desirable among serious pre-1900 and sample-card collectors. This card features a striking photo of Quinn leaning to his right, ready to run. This is a very attractive card with particularly strong photo contrast and detail. A very slight trim along the bottom is very subtle and does not detract, and is the cause of this card being encapsulated by SGC as "Authentic" rather than being assigned a numerical grade. There are no creases; there is light wear on the corners, and few areas of soiling on the reverse; the cabinet card otherwise has an overall Excellent appearance, with an extremely strong visual appeal. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,998
