1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee Joe DiMaggio

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,288

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. One of only three examples graded at this level by PSA. Offered is an extremely attractive high-grade example of Joe DiMaggio, the key card from this rare, unusual, and very substantial 1930s Canadian issue. This is an exceptional example of one of the rarest, earliest, and most desirable of all Joe DiMaggio cards. Cards from the 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee set are very difficult to find in high-grade. These cards are designed with die-cut backgrounds that can be punched out and folded back to allow each card to stand up. Because of this design, many V300s are naturally found in damaged condition, and in many cases are found with the die-cut backgrounds entirely lost. This example displays a crisp, perfectly focused image, with four sharp corners, and the background is complete and intact. The card is centered very slightly to the right. The reverse is clean with bold black text printed in both English and French. This is an extremely attractive high-grade example of one of DiMaggio’s rarest and most classic cards. From the Charlie Conlon Collection. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $5,288
