1933 R319 Goudey Lou Gehrig SGC-Graded Cards (2)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,644

One of the most recognizable poses on a baseball card is that of Lou Gehrig in the 1933 Goudey set. The Goudey Gum Company was so pleased with its "choice" image for the Gehrig card that the card image was duplicated in the set and used on two different card numbers. Presented are both cards of Lou Gehrig from the 1933 Goudey set, each graded and encapsulated by SGC: #92 is graded VG/EX 50 (a beautiful crease-free card with particularly bold colors and perfect registration and centering, just a little corner rounding; this is a remarkably striking example) and #160 is graded EX 60 (bright, clean, crisp card with just a little corner wear, perfect centering, and boldly printed reverse). This is a very attractive high-quality pair of cards representing both Gehrigs from this classic 1930s gum-card issue. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $3,000. Total 2 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,644
