1887-1888 N172 Old Judge SGC-Graded Collection (5)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $3,819

Collection of five N172 Old Judges, each graded and encapsulated by SGC: Burns (Brooklyn, VG/EX 50) copyright dated 1888, Kreig (Minneapolis, EX+ 70), Messitt (Omaha, VG/EX 50) copyright dated 1888, Stratton (Louisville, VG/EX 50) copyright dated 1888, and Terry (Brooklyn, EX 60). Many collectors assume that Old Judges are only possible to collect with a huge budget, but occasionally small groups of very attractive examples are available. This is a very pleasing collection of five cards from the most important set of the nineteenth century, including a particularly strong example of Brooklyn’s star pitcher Adonis Terry, who was the first pitcher in Dodgers' franchise history. Total 5 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $3,819
