1913 T200 Fatima Team Card Collection Including Cleveland (Joe Jackson) SGC-Graded (3)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,058

Issued by Fatima Cigarettes in 1913, the T200 team card set is one of the most unusual and distinctive of all tobacco cards. This lot includes three of the sixteen team cards issued in the set, including an exceptionally high grade (for this issue) Cleveland team card featuring Joe Jackson, one of the few Jackson cards dating from his playing days. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC. As is often the case with T200 Fatimas, all three of these examples are graded harshly and look better than their assigned grades. Condition report: Brooklyn Nationals with Casey Stengel and Zach Wheat (SGC GOOD 30); New York Nationals with Christy Mathewson and Jim Thorpe (SGC VG 40); and Cleveland Americans with Joe Jackson and Nap Lajoie (graded SGC VG/EX 50, with an unusually strong Excellent appearance and superb dark photo quality). Collectors are usually somewhat forgiving regarding condition when dealing with Fatimas because the fragile surface of these unusual real-photo team cards makes them especially susceptible to creasing. T200 Fatimas is a set which is not practical to collect in Mint condition. This set is just beginning to be appreciated for its combination of rarity, unusual design, photographic quality, and the exceptional value it represents compared to other more common tobacco-card issues of the era. Total 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,058
