1911 E100 Bishop & Co. PCL Type I Buck Weaver

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,819

Graded POOR 1 by BVG. Offered is a very presentable low-grade example of Buck Weaver from the 1911 E100 Bishop & Co. PCL Type I series. E100 Bishops are among the rarest of all "E card" issues, and one of the most highly prized of all PCL issues. Distributed by Bishop & Company of Los Angeles, E100s are noted for their brightly colored backgrounds (red, blue, yellow, purple, or green) and extreme rarity. Weaver, one of the eight Chicago "Black Sox" who were banned from baseball for their alleged role in throwing the 1919 World Series, is a special card in the set as he is the most prominent player featured. This is a rare minor league card of Weaver featuring him with San Francisco of the PCL. Despite the modest technical grade, this is still an attractive card with a strong image, and a very rarely offered example of one of vintage-card collecting's most sought-after classics. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $3,819
