1909-1911 T206 Kid Elberfeld - Washington, Portrait

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,175

Graded EX 60 by SGC. Extremely striking and attractive example of the rare T206 Elberfeld (portrait), Washington. This card has always been recognized as one of the key rarities of the T206 White Borders tobacco-card series. The offered example is bright and crisp, with a bold red background, even wear on the corners, no creases, and flawless registration. We grade this card a very strong Vg-Ex (as opposed to SGC's EX), due to having a little too much wear to the corners; but regardless of whether one assigns this card a grade of Vg-Ex or Ex, it is clearly a very strong card, and is far superior to what is normally seen for the rare T206 Elberfeld. Piedmont Cigarettes advertisement on reverse. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,175
