1905 PC782 Rotograph Postcards Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,058

Collection of three extremely rare PC782 Rotograph real-photo postcards issued in 1905, each depicting an individual member of the New York Giants or New York Highlanders baseball teams. This is a very unusual and distinctive set featuring only New York players. Upon careful examination, these examples each have a small embossed circular stamp with the initials "LK" (probably the initials of the original owner) in the upper right and left corners. (Note: the grades which follow are without reference to these subtle embossed stamps.) The three players featured on the cards, respectively, are Clark Griffith (slight trim with paper remnants from scrapbook removal on the reverse, otherwise Vg), Ambrose Puttmann (Vg), and Dummy Taylor (Vg-Ex). Each postcard pictures the player in uniform from the chest up and includes the player's name in a white strip at the bottom below the photo. Each of the postcards has never been mailed. The Standard Catalog lists eight different players confirmed in the set (including these three) but notes that the checklist may not be complete. This is a very attractive group of these rare and distinctive postcards. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Total 3 postcards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $1,058
