1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Cap Anson - Altered

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,410.00

Attractive but affordable example of Cap Anson from the colorful 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions set. Anson is the key card from this very popular fifty-card set issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen Cigarettes. This example is bright and clean, with flawless colors, and an Excellent appearance. Upon close inspection there is evidence of a slight trim, and the reverse has been rebacked. The card was sent to SGC and was even rejected for an "Authentic" holder because of the above mentioned flaws. Still, it's a nice-looking card, and one that would be a welcome addition to many types of collections. This card presents a rare opportunity to acquire an extremely attractive example of one of the most classic of all nineteenth-century baseball cards at a small fraction of the cost of a higher-grade example with a similar appearance. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
