1935 Four-On-One Exhibit Ruth/Hogan/Berger/Brandt PSA EX-MT 6

Starting Bid - $2,000.00 , Sold For - $587.50

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Outstanding example of the key card from the 1935 Four-On-One Exhibit set featuring slate blue portraits of Boston Braves stars Babe Ruth, Frank Hogan, Wally Berger, and Ed Brandt, respectively. The blank-back card was produced by the Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago. This, along with his 1935 Goudey card, was Ruth’s last card ever issued as a player. Ruth left the Yankees following the 1934 season to join the Boston Braves. He stayed with the Braves only a few weeks, playing in just 28 games, before announcing his retirement in late May 1935. The card displays four square corners, with flawless contrast, and centered 70/30 left to right and 40/60 top to bottom. The blank back has very minor blue factory printing ink on the reverse, otherwise perfectly clean. This is a great card. It is one of the most interesting, significant, and overlooked of all Babe Ruth rarities. The estimates on all of the Ruth Exhibits in this auction (and there are quite a few, all from the same collection) are very challenging because all are so reasonably valued in guides. These cards have yet to receive the attention they deserve. In our opinion, it would be hard to argue that they do not represent an outstanding value compared to many other Ruth cards which are more highly valued and not as rare. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $587.50
