1914 T216 Kotton Tobacco Ty Cobb - Standing

Starting Bid - $2,000.00 , Sold For - $5,581.25

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Extremely attractive card with bright, crisp colors, and very slightly evenly rounded corners. The reverse is clean with just the hint of a light surface abrasion in the lower right, which is barely detectable. This card has a much stronger appearance than suggested by its technically accurate SGC-assigned grade. All Kotton Tobacco cards are extremely rare, and Ty Cobb, of course, is one of the key cards to the set. The Kotton Tobacco series was issued only in the Louisiana area. The T216 Kotton Tobacco set includes two different poses of Ty Cobb (batting and standing). This example features Cobb in the standing pose. This same standing pose was also used for E102 Anonymous "Set of 25." This is a very striking and, for this issue, very high grade example of one of Ty Cobb's rarest tobacco cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $5,581.25
