1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders PSA-Graded Collection (34)

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,880.00

Collection of thirty-four (33 different, one duplicate) 1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders (out of 50 cards in the set), each graded and encapsulated by PSA (unless otherwise noted). Highlighted by six Hall of Famers and one future “Black Sox” member. This is a very attractive high-quality mid-grade collection of this classic tobacco issue. Most cards appear Ex at a glance and have been downgraded due to the minor flaws which are so common to the issue. The thin stock makes them especially susceptible to very light corner rounding. The PSA grades are as follows: Three EX-MT 6: Baker/Downie, McCabe/Starr, and Wiltse/Merkle. Seven EX 5: Abstein/Butler, Bender/Oldring (HOF, SGC EX 60), Evers/Chance (HOF), Huggins/Bresnahan (HOF), Kling/Cole, Lake/Wallace (HOF), and Lush/Hauser. Eleven VG-EX 4: Walsh/Payne (HOF), Gaspar/Clarke, LaPorte/Stephens, Rucker/Daubert, Leach/Gibson, Lapp/Barry, Killian/Fitzpatrick, Woodruff/Williams, Barrett/McGlynn, Foster/Ward, and Titus/Dooin (SGC VG/EX 50). Four VG 3: Jennings/Summer (HOF), Thomas/Coombs, Downs/Odwell, and Ford/Johnson (SGC VG 40). Nine GOOD 30: Cicotte/Thoney (“Black Sox”), McBride/Elberfeld, Grant/McLean, Doyle/Meyers, Miller/Herzog, Lobert/Moore, Seymour/Dygert, Gaspar/Clarke (duplicate), and Turner/Stovall (SGC GOOD 30). These cards are naturally prone to wear and rarely found in extremely high grade. Even in circulated condition with corner wear and a light crease here or there, T201s are very attractive and usually appear at a glance in far better condition than their technically accurate grades. T201s are one of the most substantial and uniquely designed sets ever produced, and represent one of the best values of all 1910-era baseball tobacco issues. Total 34 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
