1887 N172 Old Judge John Ward - PSA MINT 9 - The Finest in Existence!

Starting Bid - $5,000.00 , Sold For - $29,375.00

The one and only N172 John Ward graded MINT 9 by PSA (hands on hips pose - "Capt. John Ward, S.S. N.Y's."). This extraordinary card is the highest PSA-graded 1887 N172 Old Judge example in the world of John Ward. This is the only N172 John Ward (of any pose!) graded at the MINT level, with none graded higher. As nineteenth-century card collectors are well aware, it is extremely rare to find even a common N172 Old Judge graded MINT by PSA, let alone a key Hall of Famer. The fact that John Ward is one of the premier stars of the nineteenth century, and one of the key Hall of Famers in the Old Judge set, makes this ultra high-grade example one of nineteenth-century card collecting's most significant cards. We may never see another example of John Ward graded PSA MINT 9. This is a simply incredible and outstanding card in all respects. Perfectly clean, both front and back, with flawless square corners, and with spectacular contrast. The highest-graded N172 Old Judge of John Ward in existence is a "miracle card." It is the world's finest example of one of the nineteenth-century's most desirable and classic cards. This is a card which would be an extremely significant highlight in any of the world's greatest card collections, including even the most advanced Old Judge, nineteenth-century, or Hall of Famer card collection. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$20,000. SOLD FOR $29,375.00
