1909 D380-1 Clement Bros. Bread Complete Set (8)

Starting Bid - $2,500.00 , Sold For - $14,100.00

Complete set of 1909 D380-1 Clement Bros. Bread cards. This extremely rare eight-card set was regionally issued only in Rochester, New York, one card per loaf. Each card features a member of the Rochester team of the Eastern League. Even sample cards from this set are rarely seen. We have never before seen a set of D380-1s offered. These cards were saved by the father of our consignor, himself now an older gentleman. His family originally lived in Rochester, New York and his father personally got these cards in 1909. Among the hundreds of mostly tobacco cards in the collection were an astounding thirty-six 1909 and 1910 Clement Bros. Bread cards, the largest find of these rare bakery cards in the history of collecting to the best of our knowledge. All thirty-six D380 Clement Bros. Bread cards from this find are presented in this auction. This is the first and only complete D380-1 Clement Bros. Bread set we have ever seen. We have submitted the entire set to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. The reverse of each card has advertising for Clement Bros. bakery's bread and pies. The SGC condition report is as follows: Anderson (VG 40), Batch (VG 40), Butler (GOOD 30), Holly (GOOD 30), Holmes (VG 40), McConnell (FAIR 20), Osborn (FAIR 20), and Pattee (VG 40). Though the cards in this set vary in grade, several cards are particularly strong, and most of even the lowest-graded examples have tremendous eye-appeal. Total 8 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $14,100.00
