1887-1888 N172 Old Judge SGC-Graded Collection (10)

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $4,112.50

Exceptionally attractive collection of ten magnificent high-quality N172 Old Judges, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. This group was carefully hand-picked by us from a larger collection with the intention of presenting a beautiful but small collection of high-quality Old Judges with outstanding contrast and visual appeal. Collectors often find that the only way to get a great-looking group like this is to buy a much larger group (which can be unaffordable). Many collectors assume that extremely striking Old Judges such as this are only possible to collect with a huge budget, but occasionally we can present a small group of very attractive cards in affordable grades. Each of these cards will naturally have a much stronger appearance than the SGC assigned grades (as this is not a random group). Most of the cards (even those graded Good) have an Excellent appearance. Consists of: Barkley (Pittsburgh, GOOD 30), Casey (Philadelphia, EX 60), Darling (Chicago, GOOD 30), Deasley (NY, GOOD 30), Dorgan (NY, VG 40), Lyons (Philadelphia, GOOD 30) copyright dated 1888, Milligan (St. Louis, VG 40), Porter (KC, GOOD 30), Silch (Brooklyn, GOOD 30) copyright dated 1888, and Tiernan (NY, GOOD 30). This is an outstanding small group of extremely striking and high-quality cards from the most important set of the nineteenth century. Total 10 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $4,112.50
