1909-1911 T206 Sherry Magie - Error

Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $7,050.00

Encapsulated as "Authentic" by PSA. T206 Magie error card. This example of card collecting's most famous error card has not been assigned a numerical grade by PSA due to a slight trim along the bottom border; the card otherwise has an impressive Vg to Vg-Ex appearance. The card is very clean, with bold colors, a perfectly focused image, and no creases. The top two corners are evenly rounded. In the "old days" of the hobby, many collectors began to use plastic pages to store cards when they first became available. Eighteen-pocket pages were made to house tobacco and caramel cards, but collectors sometimes found that their cards did not fit in the pages because they were too tall. Cards were not worth a fortune in those days, and condition was not as big a deal as today. Many collectors simply trimmed a given card to allow it to fit into the plastic page if necessary. This card looks like it may have been trimmed along the bottom for this reason, because only the bottom border has been clipped and the top corners are rounded. This card represents a rare opportunity to acquire a very attractive T206 Magie error card at a far more affordable level than a higher-grade (or less attractive with a numerical grade) example would most certainly command. This is a very attractive example, with an exceptional appearance, of one of the hobby's most legendary rarities. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $7,050.00
