1909-1911 T206 White Borders Collection (112)

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $2,350.00

Collection of 112 T206 White Borders (mostly different, includes a few duplicates), plus one T205 Gold Border of Christy Mathewson (Poor condition). Ten cards grade Vg-Ex including Hal Chase (holding trophy); thirty-seven, Vg, including Hal Chase (dark cap) and Chic Gandil (“Black Sox”); sixty-five, Gd or slightly lesser (downgraded due to pinholes, creases, writing, or paper loss; some cards appear Vg or better but have a possible very slight trim), including Hal Chase (blue background), Ed Cicotte (“Black Sox”), and Chic Gandil (“Black Sox”). This lot is ideal for the collector who wants real, original circa 1910 tobacco cards which capture the spirit of the history of the game and collecting, but does not want to spend a fortune. We enjoy offering low-grade groups like these because they make the collecting of the most classic baseball-card issues possible and more accessible to a wider audience. Backs are almost all Sweet Caporal and Piedmont, but also included are samples of several other brands (Sovereign, Tolstoi, Polar Bear, Old Mill). Total 113 cards (112 T206s and one T205). Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,350.00
