1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Thomas Leach

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $3,231.25

Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. E107 Breisch-Williams featuring star third baseman Tommy Leach of the Pittsburgh Nationals. Though not a Hall of Famer, Tommy Leach was one of the game's most durable stars and enjoyed an outstanding nineteen-year Major League career (1898-1918), most of which was spent as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Today, Leach is best remembered for making the first hit in World Series history and also for being a key member of the 1909 World Champion Pirates. Strong, clean, bright portrait, with a few scattered hints of stains and pinpoint scratches of little consequence, and pencil note, toning, and a hint of surface paper loss on reverse. This is a very attractive card of one of the great stars of the E107 set, with a far superior appearance than its technically accurate assigned grade. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
